Pastor Yolanda Hunt

yolanda-huntYolanda Michelle Hunt was installed as the pastor of True Holiness Pentecostal Church in October 2004.  Pastor Hunt is a native of Chicago, Illinois.  She attended Lindblom Technical High School and went on to complete a B.A. in English Education with a minor in Psychology at Chicago State University.  Pastor Hunt is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Tiffany and Dana. Pastor Hunt is an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Incorporated (P.A. of W.).  Her ministry skills in leadership, training, ministerial development and administration have taken her across the United States, Canada and throughout parts of Europe.

Pastor Hunt was called into ministry at age 15, then under the leadership of Pastor Florence Nixon, and began preaching at age 16.  Pastor Hunt has been involved in ministry and service for many years.  Prior to her elevation as pastor, Yolanda Hunt served as Ministry Coordinator at the Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of Bishop Horace E. Smith where she worshipped for over 22 years.  Yolanda Hunt also headed the Youth Ministry at the Apostolic Faith Church for seven years and was instrumental in the growth and revitalization of its Annual Young People’s Conventions and Revivals.  She also served as Director of the Worship Ministry where she developed training programs for praise and worship leaders.

Yolanda Hunt served on the state level as the President of the Illinois District Council for six years.  She also held the position and worked on the national level with the IDCYPU of the P.A. of W. as the Regional Coordinator of the Satellite Program and as a Public Relations Assistant.

As an evangelist, Yolanda Hunt understood the importance of taking ministry outside of the church walls.  She began local campus ministries at Saint Xavier University and Chicago State University.  There she taught weekly bible classes, hosted crusades and leadership trainings, and provided counseling and prayer for the students of Lighthouse Ministries, Inc.

Lead of the Lord to “return to her roots”, Evangelist Hunt returned to the True Holiness Pentecostal Church in 2002 and worked faithfully under Pastor Hiram as the church administrator, responsible for ministry development and restructure, staff development, and various ministry trainings.  Yolanda Hunt served wherever help was needed.  The members of True Holiness elected Yolanda Hunt as their pastor in October 2004 after the retirement of Pastor Jackson.

True Holiness has benefited greatly under the leadership of Pastor Hunt.  The church has experienced a threefold growth in membership, added additional worship services and bible study classes, and established several new ministries.  Because she feels strongly about education on all levels, the new ministries include academic programs.  True Holiness now offers scholarships to its college students, a reading and writing program for its children and young adults, and adult G.E.D. preparation classes.  Pastor Hunt also knows the importance of giving back to the community.  She has worked with the ministers and members of True Holiness on two outreach projects—Have-a-Heart and Project Smiles–to be a blessing to the families in the community surrounding the church.

In keeping with her desire to help others fulfill God’s purpose for their lives, Pastor Hunt continues to reach the hearts of many through prayer, counseling, teaching, preaching, training and evangelism.  Pastor Hunt has the heart of the Kingdom and the people.  She believes that the growth of the church happens as people grow, and she is dedicated to strengthening the people.  Pastor Hunt understands the work that is necessary to build and maintain the Kingdom of God and is thoroughly dedicated to “advancing the kingdom”.
